I need a day mid-winter to celebrate, at least here in the northern hemisphere where daylight is short and winter temperatures are cold.  

What better to celebrate is love, kindness, peace and joy. 

Children enjoy tea parties and celebrate friendship. 

School children exchange valentines and make art to share with family.

Lovers and soul mates give heart shaped boxes of candy and red flowers and a heartfelt greeting card.

Valentine's Day has evolved into a celebration of love and friendship for all ages.  Take a walk around your home. Pick out trinkets and collectibles that assembled together would make a delightful display for this season of Love. Now you'll have a new area of focus for the month of February, of love and friendship.  For more on the season of love, read my blog post from February of 2010.

THE LOVE KIT

We give love, receive love and renew love in many ways. 

 Here are some items, gathered in friendship, that are symbols to show the world that you dare to care:

• A rubber band: to remind you of hugging and those times when you want to hold the world close to you.
• A piece of candy: to remind you to spread sweetness where ever you may be.
• A Kleenex: to dry a tea in your neighbor's eye.
• A blank letter page and envelope: to remind you to write that letter to a loved one.
• A bandaid: for healing hurt feelings, your own or someone else's.
• A copper penny: to remind you to share God's gifts.
• A daily prayer: to remind you to pray, even on your busiest days.

So faith, hope, love abide, these three, but the greatest of these is love.  1 Corinthians 13:13

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

WHAT IS A MOTHER?

A mother can be almost any size or age, but she won't admit to anything over .....thirty.
She has soft hands and smells good.
A mother likes new clothes, music, a clean house, her children's kisses, an automatic washer and Dad.
She doesn't like having her children sick, muddy feet on the carpet, temper tantrums, whining, loud noise, or bad report cards.
A mother can read a thermometer and like magic! can kiss a hurt away.
She can bake good cakes and pies, but likes to see her children eat vegetables.
A mother can stuff a fat baby into a snowsuit in seconds, and can kiss sad faces and make them smile.
She is underpaid, has long hours, and gets very little rest.
A mother worries too much about her children, but she says she doesn't mind at all.  And no matter how old her children are, she still likes to think of them as her little babies.
She is the guardian angel of the family, the queen, the tender hand of love. 
A mother is the best friend anyone every has. 
Yes, a mother is love.

I have been duly blessed with a wonderful mother and Godmother who was a second mother to me.  

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers and grandmothers.  Happy Mother's Day to all daughters, and others who's Mother they celebrate today. 

On this special day, set aside for Mothers, it is my prayer that you know you are loved.  May our Lord Jesus bless you and keep you for all eternity.
