#Pick 6 and Simple Card Layouts

#PICK 6! a Stampin' Up! Pattern
Pick 6 pieces of 6x6 inch double sided paper. Designer Series Paper - DSP - works well for this as all the colors are coordinated with cardstock, ink, markers, ribbons and embellishments.

Cut six pieces of DSP exactly like this pattern. Using each of the sections, 1-6, combine the pieces from all six pieces to make approximately 14 cards. Embellish or leave simply made.

This card uses pattern #3. It looks like a mini quilt square, and is made with 2 squares attached to each other by cutting a slit half way into the center on each. Find the center/cutting point by folding to a point.

Then cut each in at 1 3/4" (half of each 2 1/2" square). Slide the squares together at the slits. Fold opposite quarters in half, revealing the print on the other side, and rearrange until you're happy with how they look.  This paper is white on one side. Glue the folded pieces down on both sides and trim, if necessary, so the square is even.

Here is a closer look at finding the center and cutting half way in, then folding over the pieces. I used a bright color so it would be easier to see the slit and folds.

This is where flipping the pieces over and trying the other sides together matters. Not all patterned papers look good together, or maybe you don't want white as your reverse side.

Use a tacky glue to adhere both front and back, folded pieces together.

Place on the front of your card, layering with a solid color if you wish. (not shown)

This next simple card layout uses a 4x6 piece of DSP and a contrasting strip of paper. Add a sentiment and embellish with ribbon.

Use a 2x3 piece of DSP in center. Embellish or add a sentiment or layer with vellum to mute the colors.

Color gingham ribbon with a coordinated marker. I find alcohol markers work the best because they dry quickly.  Use mini glue dots or a fine tip ended glue to fasten. Add a flower and sentiment and your greeting is ready to send and share.
Enjoy making these simple card layouts. Then send them along their way to brighten someone's day!
