HELLO, Ashburn Virginia. Hello Cherry Blossoms.
HELLO, Potomac Maryland. Hello SPRING!
I've been on vacation to Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D. C. It was a short, five-day trip to visit our seven-month old grandson and his parents. Part of the purpose of our trip was to visit with my husband's second cousin, who's mother, Norma, had passed away suddenly in January. We had become very close to her in the last 2 1/2 years after reading her autobiography, and had actually planned our visit for this March to visit with her, too. We were welcomed with such warmth and friendliness. I wondered later what it would be like to meet someone who had a close relationship with my parent, whom I had never met. Though we were strangers, we never once felt that way. Before our visit ended, we went to Norma's house next store, where I picked out a tea cup from her china cabinet.
I'd only been to her home two times, but even now, being there without her was .....well... hard. I am so thankful for the time we spent together, for the hello, how do you do's, it's nice to meet you, thank you for lunch, you are so thoughtful, tell us about the family we never met, sorry you're not feeling well, we're coming to visit.....blessed.... for knowing you.
Here's to you, Norma - may you rest in peace!
Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to see some early spring! I can imagine how beautiful the area was with the cherry blossoms blooming! How exciting to see your little Grandson! So sorry about your cousin Norma, but what a treasure of a teacup to remember her by!
It will be so good to get back home in about a week! Snow and all!
Take care.......Nancy
